4.0 posting from jess

well plans for the wedding are comming along good. Everyone we have called the hotel, the judge, yellowstone people have been very helpful. We have our campsites booked, not in the 1st campground I picked but thats ok.

We have talked to a wonderful Judge about officiating the wedding. He has sent us ideas for where to hold the service and we have picked one. (its beautiful with mountains and lakes in the background) We have a date and a time. Now we will stop getting funny looks. When you say i know which week i'm getting married not which day everyone looks at you funny. We have booked into a hotel for the night of the wedding and The parents and kids will be staying at the campsites.

We are looking into getting a new vehicle, a van to fit everyone ito to get to yellowstone (we need one anyway) and finacing is in place.

I have a girlfriend looking for my dress pattern. I found out what i want now i just have to get it made. I have had many offers of help. the wedding is simple but i'm sure i will need everyone befor this is done though.

Rings we know what we like we have found beautiful ones but as Tom said befor we would still like to eat and these are expencive so we are looking into something else.

the reception pland however are on hold. We are waiting to get confermation we can have the group site at the landing befor we can send out invitations. But the lady we are supposed to talk to has been in hiding hopefully tuesday we will get an answer.

Bobby has been collecting adresses so we have just about all we need from tom's people. My family is a bit harder so it may take awhile.

Step 3.0 The Planning

Ok, ok, ok, I know that I should be keeping up with this more often, and I promise to try better in the future.

Now that we are actually engaged, the easy part is over. Now comes "The Wedding Plans" (everytime I hear that phrase, it seems to be in a deep echo type voice like a cheesy move ad forcasting impending doom).

Small, Simple, and (hopefuly) Cheap. This is our mantra, and we do repeat it to each other regularily

Small: 8 people (maybe 10) plus some sort of official to actually do the cerimony. This was the easy part to arrange, as we are inviting only the kids, her parents, my parents (and maybe 10 if my bro and his missus can get there). That's it, that's all

Simple: Well sort of...... We are planning the wedding (there's that voice again) around the family vacation that we were going to take this summer anyway. Last year was Glacier Nat Park in the mountains of Montana, this year will be Yellowstone Nat Park, in the mountains of Wyoming. Or at least that area. Part of the planning comes down to picking Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, or Grand Tetons. All of which are wonderful National Parks/wildlife areas within about an hours drive of each other. Then there are all sorts of other detainls to be worked out once we finalize an area, that no doubt will lead to entire posts of their own. Stay tuned

Cheap: Hey, I am not afraid to admit that we are trying to do this on the cheap. Something about food on the table, roof over our heads, cloths on our backs, a little fun now and then, and a 50% pay cut in the last year. We are camping for our wedding, in a campground, in tents. Not very romantic right? But it is who we are. And we are planning on getting a nice hotel room for me and the missus to "relax" in the night of the actual cerimony. We are looking into renting a van or large SUV to haul everybody down there with. This means a little more $$ for the vehicle, but only taking one vehicle (maybe two??? not sure yet) instead of three, should mean a little savings in gas. It should also help keep from having to spend time waiting for people who decide to go off driving on their own. Cheap is another reason to go to Yellowstone country instead of back to Glacier (cause we really did love it there). A marrige licence in the state of Wyoming is half the cost of one in Montana (and no icky blood test either).

So remember....... Small, Simple and Cheap words to live by!

Keep an eye out for more posts about the fun adventures of trying to plan this damn thing. Where we discuss Minister VS Judge, Yellowstone VS Jackson, what will the bride wear, what will the groom wear??

Did anybody else just hear that voice?? May be I should try to get Peter Jackson or Ron Howard to plan this thing.......

Step Two: The Engagement

Hello all, and welcome to my new blog. I hope you will be patient with me as this my first attempt at this (both blogging and getting married).

As you may have guessed by now, the main focus of this will be my upcoming nuptuals. I will attempt to share with you the Herculean trials and tribulations I expect to face while we plan what is (as you will soon find out) a very small and simple wedding.

I guess technicaly step one is finding a nice girl, and I did that a couple of years ago. I won't bore you with all the details of our courtship, we met at a bar/had drinks/made out on dance floor/phoned her the next day/moved in together a week later/ two years later reached step two "The Engagement".

Was it a wonderful romantic proposal? Hell no!! It was a couple of nights before Christmas, we were laying in bed in our jammies (and I don't wear jammies, sorry if that is too much info, but it is true. I am just trying to set the mood in your mind). Having had the ring hidden away in my gun safe for the previous month, I got impatient and couldn't wait one more day to propose on Christmas Eve the way I had planned. So....... I did everything in my power to trick, joke and cajole the misses (to be) into asking me to give her her present early. So, out from under my pillow, appeared a small but pretty diamond. She said yes, we both shed a couple of tears, hugged, laughed, smilled, did a couple other things, went to sleep happy.

That was three weeks ago, and now I have decided to try this blog thing and share with you as we work our way towards getting married.
